Cranes fan since: 1993/94
# of times seen Cranes: Only once,

What else are you currently listening to other than Cranes? (In no specific order) Peter Gabriel, Lamb, Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, OhGr, Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, The Police, Portishead, Radiohead, Download, Smashing Pumpkins, Stereolab, Sting, Talking Heads, A Perfect Circle, Trakzero, Beastie Boys, Beck, Bjork, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Haujobb, Led Zepplin.
I really get into all of these, no casual listening here.
Other random comments: I'm so glad the internet got so big. Always felt like I was stuck in an outpost in the middle of nowhere until I slept at night. It's been great sharing knowledge and experiences with so many people. That's what originally inspired me to create music; to explain fellings that words failed to described completely enough. _________________ Empty rooms and hearts exist to be filled with music. |

Hi, I'm Evi, 21 years old and live in Belgium. I've known Cranes for several years now but only really started listening to them since a couple of months ago - and now I'm hooked. I'm a literature student with a deep rooted love for music, history, books and the Sandman comics. And I love to travel, backpack and meet new people. So hello, new people |

hey there, i'm "feathers".
i live in berlin since winter 2007/08. normally i used to live in frankfurt/main, in the middle of germany.
i am 31 now but i did not ever grow up.
beside nine inch nails, the cure and cranes i normally listen to current sophisticated indiemusic like deerhunter, liars, film school and stuff: you can call it shoegaze or "new gaze" or "noise" if you wish.
i am a (pretty late) student of "social work", you know, the "helping jobs", trying to fix the gaps of welfare and so on.
i have had some very important relationships in my life. i have been together with ca. 6 girls so far (in serious terms). the last relationship lasted 9 1/2 years.
i think it is very irritating to realize that you are not half of it what you used to be if someone leaves you who was extremely important to you. yes, it has been a very symbiotic relationship.
now, nearly 12 months later, i am meeting other girls and mostly it feels okay. i can be honest. and i really find people who are interested in being nice to each other instead of just fucking.
these are the things which are so important and all of my grief is subject to the music i love.
when i listen to the cranes i feel somehow home. lyrics & music are about these states of being. being sad but happy or being happy but sad.
the other things about me should not be that important to you:
i am politically active, left-wing, but friend of israel. radical antifascist, but pain in the ass of some leftism-dogmas, but after all quite nice in person.
all the best to all of you,
feathers
p.s.:
fave album: 1. "forever", 2. "population four", 3. "future songs"
fave song: "worlds"

hi, i'm wim, 31, born and raised in bruges but currently living in ghent, belgium.
my first encounter with cranes was an interview with ali in a belgian magazine, around '94. i was intrigued by the interview so i went out and bought the shining road single and was hooked.
interestingly, i never really paid much attention to cranes' lyrics until these last few years... and looking back i'm glad i did because now it has opened up a whole new dimension and has completely revived my love for them.
apart from cranes, i'm very much into old goth/new wave stuff, drum & bass and a lot of experimental music. since 2006, i also run a small label/publishing platform called silken tofu and during the last year i've started organizing experimental/noise concerts in belgium as well.
professionally, i do a deskjob at a school for adult education and i'm a graphic designer in my free time. _________________ www.silkentofu.org |

Ta. I check back on Cranes-ey type stuff on-line now and again. There's always something going on which amazes me after all these years.
