|
|
I was checking out Dadaphonic and saw that Ali had collaborated with a band called Twine on a song that was due to be released in 2004. I don't remember ever hearing of this before, but I could have missed it. I can't find any information on the 2004 release, but there is a clip of the song on Twine's website. It sounds great. Anyone know if the entire song is available anywhere?
So that got me thinking...what other collaborations has Ali done? Here are the ones I know about:
Inrain (yum)
"You're Sweet Love" with Trash Palace
"Dark Country Moment" with Michael J. Sheehy
"Endormie" with Twine
What else is there? |

Found these info on a blog (http://www.chaoscontrol.com/2008/09/10/cranes-return-with-new-album-and-tour/) :
Vocalist Alison Shaw is also featured on “Other Electricities,” the debut album from Dokkemand. For more info on that project, check out dokkemand.no.
The band's website does not contain any info about this collaboration (there's no information at all...).

Nice find! Check out his myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/dokkemand
The track "undulat" has Ali on vocals. Not sure if she's on any others - still listening. Sounds nice.
You know what would be fun, ya know, just for a change? - If the band would let us know about such collaborations. We are fans after all - there's a pretty good chance we'd be interested, and we could also be exposed to new artists in the process. Just a crazy thought... |

I'd love to have more information on their activities. At some point they intended to let us know (see the Chaos Control Digizine Interview http://www.chaoscontrol.com/content_article.php?article=cranes2002)
What are some of the other things you want to do with the site?
Alison: "On some of the fan sites there's message boards and you can put stuff up there yourself, but on our site at the moment we don't have a message board yet. People can email us, but there's no section yet where people can put stuff in. So we'd like to do that. And basic content we'd like to update. Eventually we'd like to do stuff with other groups, and let people know about other good music that we come across."
Thanks for identifying the Dokkemand track name. I havent had the chance to listen to all the tracks on their MySpace.

That's good to know. I really hope they pursue that.
Thanks for posting the article link. Did you have trouble getting to page 2 of it? It won't load for me - just keeps going back to page 1.
The 2005 interview is wonderful and informative. I'd love to see a full-length DVD as well as hear some of Jim's more "filmic" work. And it's nice to hear that, as of 3 years ago at least, they were still considering a US tour for Cranes. Still hoping it happens... |

I tried to figure out the lyrics from the Twine song. It's mostly french words.
Endormie
[1:05]
Je ne me souviens pas si je suis heureuse ou non.
(I can't remember if I am Happy or Not)
Peut-être je (le) suis.
(Maybe I am)
Je me sens comme si je ne me (suis) pas réveillée.
(I feel like I havent woken up)
Comme si vous êtes un rêve
(Like you were a dream)
Je suis un rêve
(I am a Dream)
[3:20]
Je me sens comme si je ne me (suis) pas réveillée.
(I feel like I havent woken up)
Comme si vous êtes un rêve
(Like you were a dream)
[5:02]
There is a Wonderful Place out there (or somewhere)
But I don't know where to go
[7:00]
(still working on it)
Any help/corrections appreciated _________________ as the water flows over the bridge
