Hello again! Just a quick note to let you know that we have made another batch of the lyric book, "Til the Stars Shine". It is a hand-made book which contains lyrics to 40 cranes songs, including those from the albums "Self Non Self," "Wings of Joy", "Forever", "Loved", "Population Four", and plus lyrics from many of the EP's including the "Moon City" single. Each lyric book is completely hand-made so we only have a few copies available! Anyway, if you'd like one they are available by mailorder here.

Please let us know in the comments box of the order form if you would like the book to be signed for someone. Thanks!

We also have copies of the recently re-issued CD albums "Wings of Joy", "Forever", plus "Particles and Waves", "Future Songs" and "Live in Italy" which are also available by mail order as well as the download album "Live at Amsterdam Paradiso".

Well bye for now. Thank you all very much for your support this year and we hope to see you in 2008! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Lots of love from

MP3 DOWNLOAD RELEASE

Cranes - Live at Amsterdam Paradiso (1991)

From the Cranes archives comes a classic recording during their pre 'Wings of Joy' era. The show captures the darker heavier days of the early Cranes. Included in the set is the never before released "Slow Song". The download includes high-res jpg files of the cover art so that you can print cd sleeves. Price is £4.00 and it's available from our new download site:

www.dadaphonic.co.uk

Songs are played by the original line-up of the group which featured Jim on drums, Ali on vocals and bass, Mark Francombe on guitar and piano and Matt Cope on guitars. These are really good live versions of Starblood and Sixth of May, Da Da 331 etc. We stopped playing these songs many years ago, so we thought you might like to hear them! Let us know what you think! You can listen to previews of the songs at www.dadaphonic.co.uk

New album

We are continuing to work on recordings for the new album. Sorry it's been so long ! It's really beginning to take shape and hopefully will be something special when it's ready. Autumn 2007 could be a possible time for a release. We will keep you posted.

Films

Cranes songs have been used in two really cool films recently. They are:

"Broken English" Dir: Zoe Cassevettes
'Vanishing Point" from Cranes Particles and Waves album appears in a scene in this new film starring Parker Posey and Gena Rowlands. The film, directed by Zoe Cassevettes can be seen at the Sundance Film Festival Jan 20th-28th, 2007 http://festival.sundance.org/filmguide/

"Romeo & Juliette" Dir: Yves Desgagnés
"Flute Song" from Cranes Future Songs album appears in a film by award winning French/Canadian production company Cinémaginaire. The film is a contemporary version of Romeo and Juliet, and Flute Song appears in the final scenes of the film when Juliet has taken the poison. Cinémaginaire (who also produced 'The Barbarian Invasions' and many other award winning films) released Romeo & Juliette in Quebec on Dec 4th 2006. It's being shown in cinemas there now. USA and European release dates to be announced...

Helsinki

Jon Callender (cranes drummer) and Hayley Alker (a hugely talented vocalist and pianist) have formed a new group called Helsinki. They have recorded a beautiful new album, also called Helsinki, which we think you will love ! Check out their myspace site:

www.myspace.com/helsinkihq1

And if you'd like to buy the album (definitely recommended!) it is available at:

http://www.helsinkihq.co.uk/shop/shop.htm

Helsinki played their first ever show in Portsmouth on Dec 19th. It sounded gorgeous and was sold out in advance so look out for more shows from them in the New Year!

Well bye for now. Happy New Year and hope to see you soon!

Lots of love from Cranes xxx

'Particles and Waves' is also now available on iTunes (USA). And of course you can still get the album in record shops and at Amazon etc in USA. In Europe the DVD version of the album is not available in the shops, so that's why we have imported a few USA copies for Dadaphonic Mailorder, in case any of you here would like to order it. Thanks for all your comments so far. Really glad you have liked it. And thanks very much to everyone who came to see us play at the festivals in August. It was great to go to Athens for the first time and we had a great time in Berlin and Belgium too. We're currently working on some songs for a new album and we're hoping to have something ready for release in the Spring. We'll let you know how it goes !

Carmen Rosa

Ben Baxter (bassist in cranes) and Jon Callender (drummer) are also in another group called Carmen Rosa. Ben is the singer/songwriter and Jon the drummer and producer. They have just completed their debut album called "You Only Think You Know". They're now on myspace too and have some great songs, so check them out at

http://www.myspace.com/carmenrosamusic

For more info/album availablity write to carmenrosamusic@hotmail.com and their main Carmen Rosa website. They have given us 10 free copies of their album to give away, so the first 10 people to order 'Particles & Waves' from us will get a free Carmen Rosa CD too !

Well bye for now ! Hope you have a great Christmas and a very happy New Year. Thanks so much for all your support in 2005 and hope to see you soon.

'Particles and Waves' + Live DVD released in USA/Canada

Cranes 'Particles and Waves' LP is released today in USA and Canada on Manifesto Records. The album includes an extra DVD disc containing a film of four live songs recorded in London. It can be found at Amazon.com.

Or please find it in your local store ! Thanks ! We're so glad it finally came out. Really hope you like it. Here is a review of the album from Audio Revolution (8/10!)

Thanks so much to the Cure for inviting us to play at the festivals in Europe this summer. We had a great time playing in Belgium and in Berlin and also played in Athens for the first time. It was a great experience for us and great to see them again :) Also we had a lovely time at the Truck festival and Spitalfields in the UK and the Slottsfjell festival in Norway in July where everyone made us feel really welcome, so thanks to everyone who came to the shows !

We're currently working on some songs for a new album to be released next year and hope to tour in USA next year too. Sorry it's been so long since we came. We have a new record label (Manifesto) releasing us in USA now, so next year's album will be released at the same time as in Europe, so hopefully there will not be the long delay that we had with the current album.

If you didn't already hear 'Particles and Waves', we hope you'll like it. The sleeve (beautifully designed by our friends at the Cuban Council) has a snowflake image on the front which is actually a geometric fractal called a Koch Snowflake. This is a shape whose circumference is infinite as you can keep dividing the edges infinitely with little triangles, but the actual size of the snowflake never changes. We liked the idea of something being both infinite and finite at the same time. The album title 'Particles and Waves' refers to the idea that a particle, when you get down to it, is not really a particle at all, but a just a vibrating wave ! If you'd like to read a bit more about some of the songs and how they were recorded, and more reviews etc please see below ! And also there is currently a listening party at AOL music where you can listen to the whole album !
